jawa nd MZ in the UK?

Maybe this is a place to ask if jawa and mz have enjoyed any popularity in the UK?
If for sale, whats a normal price for a 90's jawa or MZ?

From what I have seen, Jawas and MZ's arent worth much...

A Jawa I would think maximum £1500~2000 for a really good one...
MZ's when I was looking to buy one, A really good condition MZ ETZ251 is worth around £800~1000

Sadly, like many of the East German And Eastern Bloc stuff, it never was popular in the UK, there is a following but thats about it

Sad really... I would absolutely love a trabant, and I almost bought a 1988 MZ ETZ301...

I cannot believe somone wiling to pay that much for these bikes!

Anyway, i am fond of brian rutherfords conversion of his MZ ES250.
I am wondering if the frame and subframe is strong enough..
The CVT drive must make decent acceleration possible.
Alas i couldn't find any data to contact him..

The MZ ETZ301 I was looking at was in good condition, MOT for 9 months and taxed for 10 months, with 20,000 miles on the clock, and it was advertised for £600
It had a few scratches and a broken front brake lever...

There is this project utilizing an MZ ETZ250 frame to which he's mounting a Robin diesel with an Aixam transmission. Little else is known other than the chaps last name which is Gilbert.

The MZ frame is one where it seems you would indeed mount the engine TO it, as opposed to IN it.

I just discovered the builder of the MZ/Robin frequented this board until sometime in 2008. No apparent updates since.

Well, if you think that with import fees it will work out, you can scavenge for mz's and jawa's at ducht internet.
Most bikes are priced higher, but are hardly sold over 500 euro's, or it has to be an older type in mint condition.
A 638 or 640 is woth 150-300 euro's in good running condition.
At www.veilingkijker.nl you can search all internet market places for jawa and MZ.
If i have a second bike soon, you can buy my red style..

Its probably not the import fee's that would be the problem

Its the DVLA... They can be a bit slow to say the least
And the insurance would be more as its an import :S...

Might browse that sight later though, just out of interest

i's till have a lot of questions about the CVT drive.. but..
As a matter a fact, i bought another jawa, type 638 yesterday,
so now i got a 'spare' one.
Have not decided yet to sell it as a whole or just the frame with papers, and keep the spares for my older, but technical similar 638..
You can come here for holiday, buy my red style jawa and use it to cruise around and back home
