We left Budapest having not fully decided which route to take to Bulgaria, through Romania or Serbia so headed to the border town of Szeged to decide. We couldn’t find an open campsite and so went to the first hotel we could find which turned out to be 2 stars of pure yuck which hadn’t been touched since sometime in the 1940’s.
We went for a walk in the evening hoping to stock up on cheap supplies and ended up coming across the biggest Tesco I’ve ever seen. A very bizarre experience walking through the same aisles in a completely different language!
Returning to the crummy hotel we vowed to get out of the place early the next morning.
